I am having a problem, though. I’m using a WordPress website and can’t seem to find a landing page plug-in that will work. I’m just using the Twenty Ten theme.
Steve,
As far as technology is concerned I’ve only used OptimizePress and Rainmaker (this platform) to create landing pages.
Try wordpress support (https://wordpress.org/support/) to see if you can find that plugin.
I’d love to see your landing page when it’s ready 🙂

Hi Alinka! I’m setting up my landing page through MailChimp, and after the double-opt in, I can refer subscribers to a web page. I created a page on my website: “download your free copy here!” but when I tried to upload the ebook file to my media for my WordPress site, it says those type of files are not allowed.
How do I make the .mobi and ePub files available to subscribers?
Way to go, Tracy! You are quite the action-taker – I LOVE it!
Now that you mention it, I remember running into this roadblock myself.
An easy way to overcome this is via Amazon Cloud storage: https://aws.amazon.com/s3/
I trust this will help 🙂

When I looked at reviews for WordPress Landing page plugins I also found THRIVE Landing Pages highly recommended. It’s not free but it is a reasonable one-time payment. So for me as a new author without a book revenue stream yet, I would rather pay once than pay a monthly charge like some products. I haven’t installed it yet, but will comment if and when I do.
Update… OK, so I have a WordPress.org hosted website and AuthorPro premium Theme. And in the end, I also chose the OptimizePress WordPress Plugin to use to create my landing pages. Two main reasons (1) it is a one time payment and not too expensive, and (2) I just did my first group free book promo with some other authors. The person hosting the freebie promo had the best multi-book landing page I have yet seen and it was created with OptimizePress, so that finalised my decision. Additional tip, for about 30USD I got a gig on Fiverr for someone to create me a custom OptimisePress template so I could build a multi author landing page in the future, very much like the super one I saw. So I can do my share and host a promo sometime. I’ll let you know how it goes. Also I will give feedback about my first Instafreebie promo in the appropriate module.
What are your thoughts?
Succinct and clear explanation, with a good overview of the pros and cons of various options. Thank you, Alinka.
Thank you for your kind words, Gai Lona. I’m glad you’re finding it valuable.
Hi,
when I collect the emails, should I register somewhere for the data protection and if so, where?
Thnanks,
Dear Lena,
As long as your subscribers opted in by themselves then you’re good to go.
Here’s more about this.

This is very good!! I also love the way you are so relational with people!! I’m learning that I am on the right track !!
That’s great to hear, Jill! 🙂
Excellent material, Alinka.

Tracy, I just got a recommendation from a fellow student: https://www.instafreebie.com/authors – and it integrates with MailChimp – perfect for you!

Thanks for the recommendation, AJ! Do share if you go with it.

Super helpful tips about the platforms, thanks everyone
